Thank you for visiting the website of the Chesapeake Rotary Club!  My name is David Hanson, and as the Club President for the 2010-2011 Rotary year, it’s my pleasure to welcome you.  On this site, you’ll find information about our club, it’s history, our community service activities, and information about our upcoming meetings and events.

The Chesapeake Rotary Club was founded in 1967 and in our 43 years serving Chesapeake, we’ve painted over 500 homes for the elderly poor through Paint Your Heart Out, provided coats and winter clothing to hundreds of needy elementary school children through Coats for Kids, awarded scholarships to dozens of deserving Chesapeake High school Valedictorians and Strive graduates, and raised ten’s of thousands of dollars for area and international charities.  We present the First Citizen of Chesapeake Award every September which benefits our Chesapeake Rotary Foundation, and this year we'll kickoff the Chesapeake Wine Festival in October which benefits the Sid Oman Cancer Center at Chesapeake Regional Medical Center and other charities our club supports.

Our club members represent the highest ethical standards in business and the community and come from a variety of classifications providing a strong fellowship of high quality individuals who choose to lead their lives by the Rotary motto of “Service Above Self”.  This group has accomplished incredible things through community service work, fund raising, and support for local projects that help make Chesapeake a better place to live and work.  We enjoy a fellowship and camaraderie that enriches our lives, and professions at weekly lunch meetings and monthly fellowship dinners.

I invite you to visit the various sections of our site, and learn more about the club and it’s activities.  I also welcome you to contact us if you’d like more information, or would like to be a guest at an upcoming meeting.  Thank you for stopping by!

Yours in Service,

David G. Hanson
Club President
