If you are not able to fit that vineyard tour in this year, don’t fret! Wines from Virginia’s finest wineries as well as fabulous wines from around the world will be available for tasting at the Seventh Annual Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival on Saturday October 8, 2016 from Noon – 6:00 pm at the Chesapeake City Park on Greenbrier Parkway.

3D Mammograms will now be available on the go thanks to the Chesapeake Rotary!
The first 3-D mobile mammography unit to Hampton Roads. The 40-foot unit is equipped with 2D and 3D technology. It will travel to communities and businesses throughout the region to offer quick appointments in "a comfortable, discreet space."
The Mobile Mammography Unit uses technology designed to increase image quality, while significantly decreasing the amount of radiation a patient is exposed to.  3D mammography (also known as tomosynthesis) has been proven to detect breast cancer at a 27 percent higher rate than traditional 2D mammography.
The Chesapeake Rotary Club donated $100,000 to enable the Van to become a reality.

On Wednesday November 18th, 1pm at the Chesapeake Conference Center is our Wine Festival Thank You Luncheon for Sponsors and Rotarians. Plus, we will present the checks to our Charities from this years festival.
The Chesapeake Rotary Christmas Parade is 32 years old.  The Parade’s Co-Chairs are Rotarians Dianne Copeland Adcock and Anthony Draper.  This year’s parade is sponsored by the Chesapeake Regional Medical Center.  The theme is “Be A Gift To The World" .  The Chesapeake Rotary Club is proud to partner with the City of Chesapeake in this 32 year old tradition.  Television Parade Announcer is Craig Moeller and the Reviewing Stand Announcer is Anthony Draper.
The Parade is Saturday December 5th at 6:00 p.m.  The parade begins at Mt. Pleasant Rd. and Battlefield Blvd. and ends in front of City Hall on Cedar Rd.

Jim Calder, Jr.’s   family line is a heritage of artists including the world renowned sculptor and painter Alexander Calder. He is a world recognized wood carver, sculptor, artist, painter, and visionary of comical as well as, serious works ranging from “Roscoe” his hillbilly friend to the creation of the “Calder Doors” that were carved for a competition in Italy and were sold to a private collector in the United States.

Old Dominion University Rugby is a 45-year collegiate rugby program in Norfolk, Virginia, with many players moving on to play for the Norfolk City Blues and other clubs in the Mid-Atlantic. Ranked #7 in DII by Rugby Magazine at the end of the Fall 2014 season.
Please mark your calendars for our 2015 Chesapeake Virginia Wine Festival Kickoff luncheon on Wednesday August 26, 2015 at 1pm at the Chesapeake Conference Center. Congressman J. Randy Forbes will be our guest speaker.

Our Rotarians Tom and Dyanne Walker, owners of Web Teks of Chesapeake, were honored by Inside Business as an honoree for Small Business Best Places to work in 2014.
Our District Foundation Chair Jim Proebsdoffler will be presenting John Henry Martin with the Crystal Rotary Benefactor Award at our meeting on Wednesday at the Marriott.
The award recognizes John Henry's committment to the Rotary Foundation by his bequest of over $10,000 to the foundation.
Congratulations to John Henry on his dedication and service to Rotary.
On Wednesday at the MARRIOTT we welcome Coach Latrell Scott, head football coach of Norfolk State University
Latrell Scott was named the 17th head football coach in Norfolk State history on Dec. 16, 2014. 

Scott comes to NSU following an outstanding two-year run as head coach at Virginia State University. Scott directed the Trojans to a 19-4 record and two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Northern Division regular-season titles in his two seasons in Petersburg. The Trojans never lost to a CIAA team under Scott’s direction, going a combined 15-0.

Past President Ross Morgan was awarded the District Presidential Citation Award by our new District Governor at last weeks meeting. Congratulations Ross on a great year leading our Rotary Club! 
Sarah McCoy, Manager of Public and Community Affairs for the Port of Virginia will be our speaker Wednesday at 1pm at the Chesapeake Conference Center.
The Port is built around the world’s largest natural deep-water harbor and currently stands as the third largest container port on the East Coast. Home to the largest and fastest container cranes in the world, the Port can accommodate the world’s largest ships that will increasingly travel from Asia once the Panama Canal expansion is complete in 2015.
Great interest today at our meeting on the impact and direction of the Virginian Pilot in our community. We were honored to have Steve Gunn , the new editor, as our speaker.
